 About The Event

 


The County of Alameda on behalf of the 19 Participating Agencies involved in the Regional Renewable Energy Procurement Project (R-REP) is pleased to invite you to a celebration.  R-REP is the nation's largest public sector purchase of renewable energy and a testament to the power of collaboration within the Bay Area. The project will have a significant impact on the Bay Area - including job growth, cost savings to government agencies and greenhouse gas reductions. Please join us for  light refreshments and an opportunity for interviews.

 

The event will take place at the West Winton Landfill, an R-REP site that is slated for development with solar photovoltaics by Alameda County and the Alameda County Flood Control and Water Conservation District. This project will be a showcase for the development of renewable energy at landfill sites, in partnership with the U.S. EPA and its RE-Powering America’s Land initiative.

gina mCCarthy

Administrator - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

Gina McCarthy is the Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Appointed by President Obama in 2009 as Assistant Administrator for EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation, Gina McCarthy has been a leading advocate for common-sense strategies to protect public health and the environment. During her career, which spans over 30 years, she has worked at both the state and local levels on critical environmental issues and helped coordinate policies on economic growth, energy, transportation and the environment.

Richard Valle

Board of Supervisor - County of Alameda

Richard Valle has served as the Supervisor of District 2 since June 11, 2012. He was elected in November 2012 and has focused on collectively working with the community to identify solutions to long standing issues that impact our communities. Particularly focusing on youth development, employment and training, and delivering improved social services.

Russell hancock

President & CEO - Joint Venture Silicon Valley

Russell Hancock is President & CEO of Joint Venture Silicon Valley, a position he has held since 2003. In this role Dr. Hancock is best described variously: as a civic leader, community gatherer, institution builder, social entrepreneur, and outspoken advocate for regionalism. Since taking the helm of Joint Venture he has quadrupled the size of the organization; assembled a potent board filled with mayors, CEOs and university presidents; built strategic partnerships; recruited a highly talented staff; and launched initiatives that are delivering measurable results to the region.

ahmad chatila

President & CEO - Sun Edison

Mr. Chatila has served as President and Chief Executive Officer and member of the board of directors of SunEdison since March 2009. Mr. Chatila oversaw the acquisition of SunEdison LLC in 2009 and developed SunEdison’s solar strategy. Mr. Chatila has over 20 years’ experience in the semiconductor industry, with increasing responsibility as an executive during this time, prior to his appointment as our President and Chief Executive Officer.


Bill harrison

Mayor - City of Fremont

Mayor Harrison was appointed to the Fremont Planning Commission in 2001, and again in 2005. He is a former member of the Alameda County Assessment Appeals Board and currently is the Treasurer of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce Dollars for Scholars program.

Administrator - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

Susan S. Muranishi

Administrator - County of Alameda

Susan S. Muranishi was appointed as county administrator for the Alameda County Board of Supervisors in 1995. She is responsible for the management of a large diverse urban county with a population of 1.5 million, more than 9,500 county employees and a $2.8 billion budget. Ms Muranishi has participated in official trade missions to Asia with elected officials and various business and community leaders. She has worked on issues of clean and green technology as well as regional transportation.
